1. *NEW* Bakers urge EPA to recalibrate biodiesel and renewable diesel volumes for 2022, future years 

Icomments submitted last Friday to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) update, the American Bakers Association (ABA) strongly urged the Agency to set its upcoming Renewable Volume Obligations (RVOs) for biodiesel and renewable diesel for 2022 and future years no higher than actual production for 2021.

Early-bird registration and the ABA hotel room block for ABA’s 2022 Annual Convention end on March 4. Convention will be March 27-30, 2022, at La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, California.

In two sessions, Technomic's David Henkes will share findings from Technomic’s 2021 Away-From-Home Bakery Products Category Assessment and lead two panels: one with grocery retail customers and the other with foodservice professionals.

4. *NEW* ABA and Baking Association of Canada Partner on Education, Training

ABA and the Baking Association of Canada (BAC) announced a partnership focused on developing the technical baking skills of their Members’ workforces. The partnership will open up ABA’s highly regarded Bakers Manufacturing Academy training programs to members of the BAC.

5. Recognize Your Company's Safe Workplaces through the Safety Recognition Program 

ABA's Safety Recognition Program application period is open. Apply before the March 1, 2022 deadline (one month remaining).

The Safety Recognition Program recognizes individual member company sites that excel in safety and emphasizes the importance of employee safety in the baking industry.
