Knead to Know

FROM THE AMERICAN BAKERS ASSOCIATION
Quote of the week
"68% of meals that include baked items are prepared at home. Yet consumers feel like they’re already saving money because they aren’t going out to restaurants or ordering takeout."
- Commercial Baking Magazine, referring to ABA's Life Through the Lens of Bakery study

1ABA is Fighting for SNAP Choice

There is currently much debate happening in Congress regarding the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). For example, Congress is debating whether to modify certain work qualifications for SNAP recipients. There is also a discussion of adding restrictions on the types of food that can be purchased with SNAP funds.  ABA is partnering with other food, beverage, and hunger groups to elevate this issue with lawmakers.

This week, ABA and dozens of other groups pushed for SNAP choice with leaders of the Farm Bill, the soon-to-expire law which funds SNAP.
